Our focus of ministry is to provide support and care to the 2000 or so cross-cultural Christian workers coming to the retreat centre during the year.

To manage the Bethany Facilities to deliver this vision we are prayerfully seeking a couple with pastoral heart and experience, managerial leadership experience and evidence of having built and led healthy teams. Counselling qualifications are desirable though not essential.
Responsibilities include leading and managing the staff team to deliver the services envisioned to serve our guests and that models the healthy community that we hope and pray for our them.
Accommodation is provided but this is a voluntary post and the applicant would be expected to provide their own support and travel costs. Applicants should be supported by their home church. At least a two year commitment would be expected. More details on our website www.bethanyministries.com

Many cross-cultural workers are concerned about having to learn a new language on the field. But seeing language as fundamentally a social activity, rather than an academic activity, means that language learning is all about relationships. Building relationships through language learning, and developing confidence and skills in language learning through relationships can reduce the stress of living and working in a cross-cultural environment.

Maximum Impact Language Learning (MILL) runs pre-departure training courses and workshops to help people develop skills, methods, techniques and attitudes necessary to learn another language. They can also provide ongoing support for individuals or small groups throughout the various stages of the language learning process.

The impact of language learning on issues such as identity, transition, sense of self, ability to function, teamwork, humility, stress, etc. place it squarely in the domain of member care.  MILL is keen to work alongside member care personnel to share information and develop a deeper understanding of the process of language learning and the issues involved, with a goal of developing better ways of supporting and encouraging cross-cultural workers through this crucial process.
